David A. Grimshaw
Director of SOTA. Dave has been training law enforcement and military personnel for over 27 years. Dave is a former instructor with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (MTU#1) Fort Bragg, NC. He is certified to teach “Train the Trainer “ courses in M16/M4 rifles, M9/M11/M1911 pistols, MP5 SMG, M60 MG, M249 SAW and SRT shotgun. Dave is also certified by the U.S. Army to teach Special Reaction Team Sustainment and served on Ft. Bragg’s SRT. He is a certified NRA Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor in handgun, shotgun, and patrol rifle. As a Police Officer with a large municipal department, Dave was a firearms instructor teaching handgun, shotgun and semi-auto rifle. Dave is a combat veteran with an extensive background in military small unit operations, particularly in MOUT (Military Operations on Urban Terrain). While assigned to the 82nd Airborne 3/504 PIR, he developed the company SOP for urban warfare. Dave was hand picked for assignment with the XVIII ABN Corps Long Range Surveillance Company as assistant team leader and NCOIC of weapons training. He is a certified North Carolina Concealed Carry Instructor, a certified Colt M16 Armorer and a SigArms rifle and pistol Armorer. Dave is a Distinguished NRA Life Member, an active member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI), and a member of the Military Marksmanship Association (MMA). Dave is also an adjunct instructor for the SiGARMS Academy.
David E. Sams
David was the NCOIC of the pistol section of the USAMU Training Unit#1 at Fort Bragg, NC. He is an NRA authorized trainer. David is certified as an instructor by the Lethal Force Institute in pistol and shotgun. He is certified to teach “Train the Trainer “ courses in M16A1/A2/M4 rifles, M21/M24 Sniper Weapons Systems, M9/M11/M1911 pistols and SRT shotgun. David is also certified by the U.S. Army to teach Special Reaction Team Sustainment and served as Team Leader on Ft. Bragg’s SRT. David’s law enforcement experience comes from serving as a sworn officer with Henrico County, Virginia. David is the owner of “Sams Custom Gunworks”. He served as Master Gunsmith in the USAMU Custom Firearms Shop where he personally developed the Match Grade Beretta 92 for the Army Pistol Team. He currently builds and maintains firearms for some of the top shooters in the world to include the U.S. Air Force Pistol Team and the Michigan State Police Team. He is a Life member of the NRA. He has been published in such magazines as Gun World, Guns, and Shooting Sports USA. David is also a certified Glock Armorer. |
